When Jerry Hemphill began his own custom home-building company in 1979, it was with a solid foundation of industry knowledge passed first from grandfather to father, then from father to son. 
These were old-school tradesmen-people who delivered perfection with a personal touch because they themselves would settle for nothing less. After practicing his own craft by remodeling and restoring old and historic homes, Jerry began building custom homes, becoming one of the first in the area to make extensive use of exterior stonework.
Nearly three decades later, J.E. Hemphill is a name that only a few exclusive homes feature each year. They are homes of distinction, craftsmanship, and topographic harmony built through an equally natural and personal collaboration with each client. Jerry Hemphill provides guidance, sound advice, and hands-on skill at all stages of the building process-a process he facilitates by being accessible directly by phone 24/7. No bureaucratic chain of command, no secretary, just the builder himself.
Jerry is at the building site every day. He knows every detail about what's going on, when it's happening, and why. His tradesmen have worked with him for many years and know not only what's expected of them, but what to expect from each other. J.E. Hemphill also works with renowned architects, designers, suppliers, and manufacturers nationwide. As a result, J.E. Hemphill has never duplicated a house; they just made each one absolutely perfect.
